Book any trip out of Hanoi two to three weeks ahead, or stay in town and enjoy the empty streets.
The days off around 1 May are confirmed closer to the date.
National Day
2 Sep–3 SepGovernment offices and banks close. Hanoi's centre is busy with flags and events around Ba Đình.
